North Recovery Support Volunteer – a front-line role directly supporting those seeking help with substance use issues. Volunteers will be part of a dedicated team at Woodcock Court in Gillingham (SP8 4DZ) within the South West region. The role is offered for 12 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Reach Drug and Alcohol Service work with adults and young people by delivering interventions, treatments, and resources that will encourage recovery and community awareness.
3. Key Responsibilities
As a Recovery Support Volunteer you will:
Welcome people to make them feel at ease by receiving a warm welcome and a hot drink.
Coordinate group activity including the ‘Flourish Cafes.’
Be the first contact for those looking for help either face-to-face or over the telephone.
Support group work, making welfare calls.
One to one support in order to empower people to make and achieve recovery plans.
4. Skills and Requirements
There is no previous experience as there is full training and support given. However, the following skills are required:
Good communication skills.
Empathy and a non-judgmental attitude to people who suffer from substance misuse.
Basic computer skills.
Commitment to honesty and reliability.
Understanding issues in addiction and recovery.

Waythrough’s services annually help about 125,000 people who seek assistance in issues related to mental health, housing, addiction, and other such areas.
